A.J. & Sarah Rinck House

This building was probably constructed soon after the property on which it sits was purchased by C.T. Darling in 1911. In 1914 it was sold to Alfred Clay, a winter resident from Milton, Vermont. After Clay's death in 1941, the property was acquired by A.J. and Sarah C. Rinck. Alphonso J. Rinck came to Florida after finishing school in New York to stay with his father, a retired Pinkerton Agency detective, at Huntington. He later moved to Crescent City where he married Sarah Anderson in 1916. Alphonso Rinck became an influential citrus grower and owned a large packing house in Pomona Park. He died in 1956. The following year, Sarah deeded this house to the couple's only child, Margaret, who was married to Rev. Arthur Wilson Rideout. The building is significant for its association with the residential development of Crescent City during the early twentieth century.
